AFI funding and support for Alzheimer’s and dementia research

For Scientists

The Alzheimer Forschung Initiative (AFI) is the largest private funder of Alzheimer’s research in Germany. We support scientific projects focused on Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of dementia – conditions for which there is still no cure.

Independent funding plays a crucial role in advancing research. It enables the development of improved diagnostic methods, new treatments, and, in the long term, potentially even a cure.

Our vision is a world without dementia, where people can grow older with dignity and maintain their cognitive health.

Thanks to private donations, AFI has invested more than €20.7 million over the past three decades, funding over 470 research projects – from basic research to the development of new therapeutic approaches.
